Temagami: Matagamasi Lake to Lake Temagami (9 days / 126 km)

This trip passes through three separate provincial parks, and is a wonderful way to see the rich and varied terrain of the lakes and rivers of the Temagami area. There is some whitewater on the Sturgeon River, but for inexperienced paddlers the more technical rapids can be portaged around.

We were a group of seven, and some of the people on our trip were less experienced, but that didn’t pose any real issues. The portages in that area are well-maintained, but there were some log jams and overgrown sections on the Obabika and Wawiagama Rivers that had to be dragged over.
