Temagami: Duncanson Lake to Lake Temagami (Sandy Inlet), via Lady Evelyn River and Diamond Lake (6 days / 60 km)

This trip hits some of my favourite places and views of the Temagami Area. It starts in some semi-recent burn that has started to regrow, and takes you through both Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater and Obabika River Provincial Parks. This is not a trip for the faint of heart, or for the inexperienced. It has many portages, quite a few of them long and/or challenging, but is very worth the effort.

We were a group of six, which normally would be fine, but only two of us were particularly experienced, which posed quite the challenge and made the trip much harder than it had to be. Make sure you’re really good friends with the people you’re doing this with, and that you’re confident in their abilities. Please read the “Reflections” section, because there are a great many things that I would do differently, but it is still one of my favourite routes.
