Hi everybody, I thought I would break the ice and start a conversation in the Ontario discussion board. I’d love to hear about anybody’s upcoming trip that they are excited about. I have a trip planned for the middle of September that I’ve been planning for about 6 months now. My trip will be solo with my dog Logan and we put in at flemings landing on lake Kawigamog and into Noganosh provincial park via Smoky lake. From the we will Portage down the old logging roads to Sunny lake, Portage lake, Finney lake, Crow lake, Deep lake and Sinclair lake. From Sinclair we make our way into the Magnetawan river and take what I’m calling the north branch of the Magnetawan to Timber Wolf lake, Wassagami lake, Seesee lake, Lone Tree lake, Evan’s lake and finaly to Naiscoot lake and pick up at Hwy 69. I’m planning on a 5 night trip but I’m sure this could be done in 3 days. Now who else has a trip planned?

    Cheers.

    We can be followed @Logan2016

Hi Chris! That sounds like an awesome route! I haven’t done much paddling in that area (just a little part of the Magnetawan River) but I really liked that section. Let me know if you’d like to write a trip report about your route for the site!

I don’t have any more canoe trips planned for the summer, but I did have a little one on the Missinaibi and a week on the Spanish River last month. Both were a ton of fun!

That sounds like its going to be an awesome trip Chris! September seems like the perfect time for a solo trip with the dog. Hope you both enjoy it and cant wait to see some pictures!

Finally my big trip for the summer is coming up next Friday. Since January I was planning a 12 day trip up to Wabakimi. My heart it slowly breaking because there is a very high chance (almost guaranteed but I have a tiny bit of hope left) of postponing it until next year due to all the forest fires and extremely low water. Part of the trip is down the Kopka River, which right now sounds like a lot of walking.

So now its time to whip together a trip in 10 days! My first alternative is the Mississagi River. It has sparked my interest for while and I have done research on it prior. Setting up the hefty car shuttle is the only obstacle. Fingers crossed I can get that figured out tonight or its back to the drawing board. Second, is a big loop through Temagami but I was hoping for something a little different since I have already done a couple trips in Temagami.

    Any suggestions on another trip?

I’ve got an Algonquin trip planned for next week on Rain Lake! Just a couple of nights but then I’ll be heading to the Trent-Severn and Georgian Bay Islands so looking forward to a week of camping :).
